Royal Prince Alfred (RPA) is a 911-bed tertiary referral hospital with an international reputation in cancer research and treatment, a national liver transplant unit and busy interventional radiology department. Trainees will therefore have a large exposure to these specialities fields.
Trainees are frequently rotated to the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse (see below).
Chris O’Brien Lifehouse
- Chris O’Brien Lifehouse is a not-for-profit, comprehensive cancer hospital adjacent to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. All tumour streams (bowel, colorectal, breast, gastroenterological, leukaemia, lung, mesothelioma, lymphoma, melanoma, skin, myeloma, neurological, pancreatic, urological, bladder, prostate and testicular) are treated, however Lifehouse specialises in rare and complex cancers.
- Time worked here is counted towards out-of-hospital rotation.

Concord Hospital (CRGH) is a major 750-bed teaching hospital of Sydney Medical School at the University of Sydney, where it is referred to as Concord Clinical School, and a major facility in the Sydney Local Health District and the former Sydney South West Area Health Service. The NSW Statewide Severe Burn Injury Service and the Bernie Banton Centre, an asbestos diseases research institute, are located at CRGH.

Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospital (BMDH) is a single hospital operating across two campuses – one at Blacktown and one at Mount Druitt.
Blacktown Hospital provides a 24-hour emergency service, intensive and high dependency care, sub-specialty acute medical and surgical care, obstetrics and newborn care and sub-acute rehabilitation. Inpatient acute mental health and community mental health services are delivered from Bungarribee House.
Mount Druitt Hospital offers 24-hour emergency care, and a district-wide role in the provision of planned surgery, with a high proportion of general, orthopaedic and breast surgery.
